Top Ten Sports Moments of the Last Ten Years

These moments in sports history from the past ten years are my top ten because of a number of reasons. They are what first came to my mind when I thought about it and they were the events that really had me glued to the TV. So here they are and I'm sure many of you will agree or disagree or at least relate in some way.

10)Candace Parker. I'm sure not many people saw this one coming. But hey I'll give you my reasoning. First woman to announce her college commitment on ESPNNEWS. First to dunk in an NCAA tournament game and first to dunk twice in an NCAA game. In my opinion she is the Michael Jordan of the WNBA and will only help the WNBA gain more popularity.

9)Dale Ernhardt dies on the final lap of the Daytona 500.
February 18th, 2001 a racing legend dies doing what he did best. This is a moment that caught everyone's attention even if they weren't interested in racing.

8)Barry Bonds passes Hank Aaron as the all time home run king. No matter how anyone feels about it, Barry Bonds' 756th home run belongs in the top ten. It will never be towards the top in my opinion because of the steroids and speculation. However, it still belongs in a historical context.

7)Baseball and steroids. This is to follow up on Barry Bonds making history. This will always be an issue that will probably never be solved. But to me it is a big deal because I love watching baseball and the issue of steroids always seems to come up when anything great happens so really how do I know when events or historical occurrences are pure or not?

6)Bartman. Not much explanation needed. This makes the list because it made me extremely sad. Would any fan have done the same thing in his situation? Probably but it just sucks that it had to happen to the Cubs in that situation.

5)Mark McGwire/ Sammy Sosa home run chase. In the 1998 season this hr chase had me constantly watching. Mainly because Sammy Sosa was part of the Cubs. Another reason it was such a big deal to me was because McGwires 62nd home run that broke Roger Maris' single season home run record came against the Cubs and gave me goosebumps because I just felt the importance of that home run.

4)Michael Phelps in Beijing. His 8 gold medals that broke swimmer Mark Spitz's record of 7 gold medals had my complete attention when it came to the 2008 Summer Games. Everyday I was looking for when his next race was just so that I could see him win over and over again.

3) Super Bowl 42. On February 3 2008 in Glendale, AZ the Giants were able to pull off an unthinkable upset versus the then 18-0 New England Patriots which everyone had them as a lock to go undefeated. David Tyree's catch was probably the most exciting and unbelievable catch I have ever seen given the situation.

2)2006 National Championship between Texas and USC. This game was amazing because of the way Vince Young carried Texas to victory. USC was extremely talented and I thought they would dominate with Reggie Bush and Leinart but Young's third rushing TD of the game with 19 seconds left in the game is one of the most memorable moments in my mind when it comes to sports.

1) Tiger Woods at Torrey Pines. I love playing golf and watch it every once in a while. But the way Tiger played the 2008 US Open Championship was amazing. Coming back 2 months after surgery is just crazy when it comes to walking 91 holes. But being able to win was unthinkable. I couldn't believe what I was seeing watching this tournament and it showed just how strong Tiger Woods is. His 14th major championship and probably the greatest tournament run of all time.

Hope you enjoy and look forward to comments on what you think about these top 10 moments from the last 10 years.
